Investing in Community Through the Arts

Investing in Community Through the Arts
When Rhonda Thomas moved to Santa Fe from Chicago, she quickly found a way to support the cultural institutions that make the city so distinctive. This year, she joined the Foundation's Board of Trustees and made a generous gift of appreciated stock to the Annual Fund-an efficient and impactful way to invest in the museums she cares about.
Rhonda is a partner with the law firm Thompson Coburn LLP, where she practices in the areas of public finance and public law. Her work includes project financing for a wide range of public and private purposes, including arts and education facilities, public safety projects, transportation systems, and other initiatives that strengthen communities. She also serves as outside counsel to governmental, educational, and nonprofit organizations, bringing her expertise to projects that advance the public good.
Throughout her career, Rhonda has combined professional excellence with a deep commitment to civic life. An award-winning lawyer, she has a long history of community service and support for the arts and education in Missouri and Illinois, including board leadership and involvement in initiatives focused on fine arts, historic preservation, and economic development. Her move to Santa Fe marks a continuation of that lifelong dedication to cultural institutions and the communities they serve.
Museums Strengthen the Fabric of a Community
She says, "Giving appreciated stock is a simple way to make a larger impact on the New Mexico cultural institutions I care about. I believe museums strengthen the fabric of a community. By supporting the arts, we invest in education, dialogue, and a shared sense of place. It's a privilege to help sustain institutions that enrich Santa Fe and connect us to one another."
